Yoga is an ancient discipline that fulfills the needs of our very modern lives. Yoga has a myriad of tools: postures, breathing techniques, and visualization – as well as lifestyle and relationship guides. Everyone can benefit from yoga regardless of age, or condition.
The ultimate goal of yoga is feeling better – on every level of our system. When we feel better, our mental clarity improves. When the mind is clear and we feel good, we are happier! By practicing yoga the student not only feels better but also gains a way to actively participate in his or her own holistic health.
One can learn ways to safely improve flexibility and strength, as well as how to relax deeply and reduce stress. Practices are accessible to most people. Modifications can be given to meet individual participant’s needs and goals.
Some common benefits of an appropriate yoga practice can include, but are not limited to:
|Spine and overall body flexibility and strength||Pain and discomfort|
|Breathing capacity||Anxiety and depression|
|Quality of sleep||Fatigue|
|Mental focus and memory|
|Mental and emotional outlook|
|Balanced energy levels|
Vanessa Rae Gomes began practicing yoga in 2003 and quickly fell in love with the leftover yoga bliss experienced at the end of each class. She felt at home on the mat and had a natural tendency towards teaching, so she pursued her 200-hr Hatha yoga teacher training in 2014 from The Yoga Connection in Tucson, Arizona. She has since been teaching group classes, private sessions, and leading workshops. She integrates her secondary passion, therapeutic essential oils, into every yoga session, using them as a natural tool to help facilitate the physical and mental practice of yoga. In her classes, she focuses on the balance of breath and movement and aims to bring a sense of peace to all her students. Her intentions for continuing education include yoga therapy accreditation at the 500-hr level.
